A SCARBOROUGH nursery is under new ownership after its manager stepped in to take over the business.

The Wooden Horse in Wykeham was put up for sale after its owner decided to sell the company, which included nurseries in Whitby and Easingwold, near York.

After six years as manager Louise Holloway made the move to buy the business.

Mrs Holloway, who has recently achieved her Early Years Professional Status, says it is the first time she has run her own business, but was encouraged to do it through her passion for her job.

She said; “I decided to buy the business because I love my job and have a passion for looking after children.

“I have kept most things the same, and we have had some great feedback from all the parents.

“I am lucky to have a great team of staff who I have worked with for years, and they are all still on board.

“We are very busy at the moment and the business is thriving in the local community, so it is all going well so far.

“The staff and the parents all seem to be really happy with how things and going and that is the main thing.”

Business is booming so much at the Wooden Horse that Mrs Holloway has already had to take on an extra member of staff to cope with the demand.

The Wooden Horse is part of Wykeham Business Park, owned by Dawnay Estates.
