STUDENTS in Scarborough are taking part in a cookery competition in a bid to cater for a national conference being held at the Spa next year.
The Federation of Small Business, Yorkshire Coast College and the Spa have teamed up to host the Taste of Yorkshire Cookery Competition.
Level 2 Students from Yorkshire Coast College will compete over the next six months to produce the Federation’s Conference dinner for 700 delegates at their National Conference at the Scarborough Spa on March 23 2012.
The students will compete to produce the 3 course meal for the evening and the winners will also be sous chefs for James McKenzie from the Michelin Starred Pipe and Glass at the cooking demonstrations being held throughout the conference.
Ryan Sperry, of Yorkshire Coast College, said: “The college is committed to ensuring that our students leave with as many employability skill as possible. This opportunity from the Federation of Small Businesses is extremely exciting and will give the students a real taste of work and a great start for their working lives.”
The federation is the largest business organisation in the UK with more than 205,000 members. Its National Conference will see politicians, business and celebrity speakers coming to the town. There will also be a local producers market, open to the public.
