A BUSINESS man is expanding his firm as he explores a new gap in the market.
Rob Scott set up his own driving instructor business Yorkshire Coast Driver Training six years ago.
The business originally started teaching people to drive cars, though two years ago expanded to include trailer training.
Now Mr Scott has taken a major step, and a major investment, to include HGV driver training to his portfolio of services.
Mr Scott, who was a heavy goods driver for more than 20 years, said; “After been a professional driver for two decades setting up a business in driver training seemed like the next logical step.
“After six years the business is doing well enough to expand further in to new areas.
“I saw there was a gap in the market locally for HGV driver training.
“The nearest training centres to Scarborough are Tockwith, near York, and Hull, so there is quite a large area along this side of the coast which isn’t covered.
“I was already qualified as an instructor so after investing in a HGV vehicle I am ready to go.”
Through Yorkshire Coast Driver Training Mr Scott employs one other driving instructor, however due to customer demand he is now in the process of training up another driver.
