TEN years of business is being celebrating by a Scarborough glazing firm with the opening of a new showroom.

Oceansafe has moved in to new premises in St Thomas Street as it marks its tenth anniversary.

The double glazing company was created a decade ago by director Nigel Farmer, who started out as a sole trader.

Over the years Oceansafe has grown to include four members of staff, and now a new showroom.

Mr Farmer said; “The business has grown over the years due to customer recommendations. We have built up a good reputation and word of mouth has spread.

“I always wanted to keep the business fairly small, and provide a local service for local people. I didn’t want to be in a position where I took on more work than I can handle.

“I am pleased with how things have gone and that we have successfully reached our 10-year anniversary.

“The new showroom is a good move for us, and gives us a good base for customers to visit and see our products.”

Co-director Anne Farmer said the new showroom is in response to customer demand.

She said: “Our customers have told us they would like to see us with a showroom and provide the opportunity to sample our products first hand so that is what we have done.

“We found that those few customers we didn’t get did not buy from us because they could not come and see the products we have on offer.

“People like to see what they are paying for so we addressed that and set up the showroom.

“We want to provide a point of contact for customers from start to finish.

“It also offers piece of mind for people knowing they have somewhere they can find us and talk to us.

“There have been four shops along St Thomas Street closed for such a long time and we know the two other units next door are being signed for so it will be nice to see St Thomas Street looking less run down.”

To mark the opening of the showroom and their tenth anniversary the company is holding an open day at its new premises in St Thomas Street on Saturday.
