A SCARBOROUGH law firm has become one of the first in the country to achieve membership to a new scheme by the Law Society.
The Conveyancing Quality Scheme was set up as a mark of excellence, highlighting firms which meet high standards in the home buying and selling process.
After rigorous assessment by the Law Society, Scarborough firm John P Martin and Co has secured Conveyancing Quality Scheme status.
Benedict Martin, managing partner of John P Martin and Co, which is based at Bank Chambers in Albion Road, said: “We are delighted The Law Society has chosen John P Martin and Co to gain accreditation under the new Conveyancing Quality Care Scheme.
“It is recognition of the high standards we provide to our residential clients and is a signal to future home sellers and buyers of the level of service we provide at what is often a stressful time for many people.”
The Law Society introduced the Conveyancing Quality Scheme to help recognise high standards in the home buying process and deter fraud in the residential property market. The mark of the scheme enables consumers to recognise practices that provide a quality residential conveyancing service.
The scheme required practices to undergo a strict assessment, compulsory training, self reporting, random audits and annual reviews in order to maintain the status. It is open only to members of the Law Society and to those who meet the standards the scheme will set.
The scheme has the support of the Council of Mortgage Lenders, the Building Societies Association and the Association of British Insurers.
