THE developers of the first purpose-built hotel in Scarborough for more than 70 years have received a prestigious award for their work.
Scarborough-based property developer Ledden/Thompson Developments has been awarded the Best Large Commercial Building of over £1 million in the North and East Yorkshire Region for its scheme to build the new hotel in Falconers Road.
The firm received the award from Local Authority Building Control at a ceremony held at the Fairfield Manor Hotel in York.
Gary Ledden, managing director of the developers, said: “We are obviously delighted to receive such a prestigious accolade which reflects the dedication and commitment that we have given to the scheme. The project was a difficult build and to win an award of such calibre is testament to the team involved.
“Our Architect Hayes Associates of Scarborough, Main Contractors PDR Construction of Hull and Building Surveyors Lawrence Hannah of York have brought together a fantastic scheme which was delivered on time and on budget, it is a development we are proud of and I thank the team for their efforts on our behalf.”
The awards are held annually in recognition of sustainable design, technical innovation and a high standard of build construction and runs the scheme on local, regional and national levels.
The £6.5 million, 74-bedroom hotel and restaurant scheme was completed in March and is let to Premier Inn and Brewers Fayre.
It was built on the site of the former Boothby’s garage.
