Residents get boost from offer

RESIDENTS across the Ryedale area are set to benefit from a new insulation grant.

The grant, announced by Ryedale District Council and Yorkshire Energy Partnership, will offer free external wall insulation for residents who are off mains gas, have solid walls and receive qualifying benefits.

New methods mean solid walls can be insulated by applying cladding to the outside of a property and then covered with a render finish.

Cllr Linda Cowling, chairman of Ryedale District Council’s Commissioning Board, encouraged people to take advantage of the offer.

She added: “This free insulation offer is open to any private homeowner, private tenant or landlord who heats their homes using solid fuel or electric in the entire Ryedale area and are in receipt of income-related benefits.

“However, funding is only available until Autumn 2012 so it is vital that people contact Yorkshire Energy Partnership.”

Anyone wanting to take advantage of the new offer, should contact 01904 55 44 06.
