THE year has got off to an “encouraging start” for a Scarborough bank as the company announces its 2011 annual results.
Handelsbanken, which has a branch in Manor Court at Scarborough Business Park, has credited another successful year to the loyalty of its branch customers.
The 140-year-old bank’s has 2011 reveal a 31 per cent increase in lending to UK individual and corporate customers, taking total UK lending to more than £8.5 billion.
In addition, customer deposits increased by 44 per cent.
Run by a team of six local bankers, the Scarborough branch is one of 119 British Handelsbanken branches, 21 of which opened in 2011.
Nick Sharples, manager of Handelsbanken’s Scarborough branch said: “The results speak for themselves, our decentralised way of working incorporating a non target and no bonus culture enables us to concentrate on the aspects of banking that are most important to our customers.
“Excellent service, quality time spent discussing customer requirements with quick and efficient local decision making for both business and personal see our customer base continue to expand.”
Financial information provider Bloomberg last year rated Handelsbanken the world’s second strongest bank, while an independent survey of British banks place the bank top for customer satisfaction for a third year.
