A “MONEY matters” roadshow was held in Scarborough to give people advice on overcoming debt problems.
North Yorkshire Credit Union and the Citizens Advice Bureau linked up with Scarborough Council for the roadshow, which aimed to point people towards easily accessible savings accounts, low cost affordable loans and debt advice.
Julie Knight, North Yorkshire Credit Union’s project officer for Scarborough, said: “We’re a not-for-profit organisation for people who live in North Yorkshire offering easy accessible savings accounts and low cost, affordable loans.
“It was very clear from the two events we held in Scarborough town centre that people are worried about financial matters and hopefully we have been able to guide people in the right direction as well as give practical assistance.
“It was good to working alongside the Citizens Advice Bureau and borough council and I hope we can repeat this sort of event in the future.
“Many people opened savings accounts during the two days as people were impressed with the different savings account, including the Christmas Account that kept money safely locked away until November and December and offered a two per cent bonus on the balance.”
