SCARBOROUGH is playing its part in the nation’s celebrations by producing the official programmes for the Diamond Jubilee Concert.
Ten thousand people will descend upon Buckingham Palace for a show featuring stars such as Elton John, Tom Jones, Kylie Minogue, Stevie Wonder, Jessie J and Paul McCartney on June 4.
The programmes for the Royal spectacular are bring printed in Eastfield at Pindar Scarborough.
The company, previously called Pindar, won the contract with the help of its former chairman Andrew Pindar.
Mr Pindar co-owns the London-based firm Barnard & Westwood, which has two Royal Warrants.
Through his contacts he helped secure the programme printing contract for the firm, which he used to own before it went into administration.
Pindar is now owned by York Mailing, and was renamed Pindar Scarborough.
Mr Pindar said: “I regret so much what happened, but I am pleased to see this business come to Scarborough.
“I have been able to continue to look after quite a lot of customers that I was involved with before hand, and I will do what I can do help bring business to the business that still bears our family name.
“The colour brochures for the concert will be printed in Scarborough at Pindar.
“At Barnard & Westwood we will be doing official invitations and more bespoke stuff.”
Barnard & Westwood has two Royal Warrants for Her Majesty the Queen and the Prince of Wales.
The firm, led by Andrew Pindar and Nick Hartley, also printed the invitation cards, table plans and Orders of Service for the Royal Wedding last summer between Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Mr Pindar added: “We are privileged to be able to work for many parts of the royal family. We have got two royal warrants and we do a lot of work for the Royal household, and for West Minster Abbey and Saint Paul’s.”
The Diamond Jubliee Concert, which the Queen herself will be attending, is being produced by the BBC and musician Gary Barley. Further acts include Shirley Bassey, Alfie Boes, Jools Holland, Jessie J, JLS, Tom Jones, Lang Lang, Annie Lennox, Madness, Cliff Richard and Ed Sheeran.
The show will be broadcast live on BBC One and BBC Radio 2 from 7.30pm.
