LEARNING and earning is the theme of the day at an Apprentice Jobs Fair.
The event is being held at Scarborough Spa tomorrow as part of National Apprenticeship Week.
Scarborough Council has been working together with the National Apprenticeship Service, and local training providers to organise the event which is aimed at anyone interested in becoming an apprentice or who is considering their options and wants to find out more about apprenticeship schemes.
The York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership is funding the event, which intends to build on last years North Yorkshire Coast Apprenticeship Challenge which succeeded in getting 73 local businesses to take on 117 new apprentices.
Matt Parsons, Employment and Skills manager for Scarborough Council said: “Apprenticeships are a great way for people to work and earn a wage, whilst training and gaining a qualification at the same time, an apprenticeship can be the start of a long and rewarding career. The scheme also provides measurable benefits for employers, improving productivity and competitiveness.”
The apprentice event runs from 4pm to 7pm.
People interested in becoming an apprentice who cannot make the event, or businesses that want to find out more about employing apprentices should call the National Apprenticeship Service on 0800 0150 600 or visit www.apprenticeships.org.uk
