MEMBERS of The Yorkshire Federation of Women’s Licensed Trade Association raised a glass during a wine reception at their annual conference in Scarborough yesterday.

The event at The Ambassador Hotel gives members of the group the opportunity to discuss fundraising ideas and let their hair down.

The group raised around £11,000 for various charities this year with the Scarborough Ladies Auxiliary to the License Trade group helping The Sea Cadets and Macmillan Cancer Support among others.

Margaret Hogg from the Scarborough ladies group said the event was a great success.

“I think all the ladies from the Yorkshire Federation must love Scarborough because they keep coming back here every year.” she said. “Every year we do tombolas, sponsored walks and all sorts.”

As well as raising money for charities, the group also aims to help present and ex-landladies in what is a very difficult time for the license trade.
