A POPULAR Scarborough restaurant has opened its doors to the Turkish community for an annual friendship dinner.

Maurice Oimez, manager of Sultans restaurant on Victoria Road, provided a meal consisting of traditional Turkish fare for around 25 guests at his restaurant yesterday.

Members of the Turkish community dined alongside guests.

Mr Oimez, who runs both Sultans and its adjacent takeaway, The Band, said the dinner was a chance for Scarborough’s Turkish community to come together with other people in the town.

He said: “I’ve lived in Scarborough for nine years, and I love Scarborough and I love the people here.

“This is the second year we’ve done this meal, and hopefully there is more to come.”
