A GROUP of Scarborough employees have scored £65 for a local charity.

Employees from maintenance contractor Willmott Dixon’s Scarborough Branch donned their football boots for Men’s Health Week.

They organised a charity football match to coincide with the health awareness week and raised funds for Whitby charity InterActive. The match, which took place at Pindar Leisure Centre and was followed by a barbecue, included teams from Willmott Dixon Partnerships and Yorkshire Coast Homes.

The purpose of Men’s Health Week was to raise awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men.

InterActive is a small charity, providing inclusive play and leisure opportunities, and respite care for children and young people in the Whitby area.

Melanie Watson, customer and community officer for Willmott Dixon, said: “As a major employee of local men, we really take our employees’ health seriously, so this is a great way that we can raise awareness for Men’s Health Week while also raising money for a good local charity. As a bonus, the winning team was the Blue Team from our local branch.”
