More than 40 Scarborough Sea Cadets took part in an annual 13-mile charity ‘Field Gun Pull’ on Saturday in memory of a former member.

Walkers set off from the lifeboat station in Foreshore Road at 10am, with Newcastle Packet landlady Cath Duffy starting the event.

They then pulled the field gun around Marine Drive, the Cinder Track and onto Ravenscar, taking the gun apart at all hurdles.

Following an overnight rest, they pulled the gun back to the lifeboat station, cheered on by family and friends.

So far the cadets have raise around £850 for the TS Scarborough unit.

PO (SCC) Natalie Davies said: “The weekend was a huge success. We would like to thank all the parents and staff members who kept the cadets fed and watered along the way.”

The annual event has taken place for more than 10 years in memory of former Scarborough Sea Cadet Sean Park, who the field gun is dedicated to.
