PUPILS of a Scarborough school have joined in a global campaign to get more girls into education.
St Augustine’s School assistant headteacher Sue Whelan said: “Maria Murphy handed to MP Robert Goodwill the Send My Sister to School Buddies that our pupils had made.
“This is a national campaign to highlight the fact that worldwide 67 million children are not receiving schooling and more than half are girls. So far over half a million of these Buddies have been made by British schoolchildren. The aim is to put pressure on World leaders to work together to provide free quality education for all the world’s children.”
Mr Goodwill will pass on the Buddies to a foreign minister.
