RESIDENTS and visitors to Scarborough are being urged to help a marine research charity keep track of dolphins, porpoises and whales.

Sea Watch is inviting people to take part in an annual national whale, porpoise and dolphin watch on Sunday, August 7.

A manned watch will take place at Marine Drive, near the coastguard station, between 10am and 4pm.

Species people can expect to see include harbour porpoise and seals.

Stuart Baines is helping to co-ordinate the event. Stuart has had a life-long interest in wildlife but over the last year has undertaken regular recordings of the harbour porpoise off Marine Drive.
