Papa’s Fish and Chips, in Eastfield, was crowned Britain’s Best Takeaway on BBC 2 and is now thanking Scarborough for their support since they opened in January.

Dino Papas, who owns the restaurant alongside his brother George and father Sid, said: “We are really proud – we are a small business run by a family who love traditional fish and chips. We are grateful to Scarborough for their fantastic feedback.”

The restaurant appeared on Britain’s Best Takeaways after secret diners reviewed fish and chip shops across the country. They were crowned by Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge.

Tom praised Papa’s on the show saying: “I’ve just spent a couple of hours witnessing one of the most incredible food services I’ve ever seen. The standard is so incredibly high.”

Papa’s Fish and Chips will be offering their 10oz haddock and chips, usually priced at £4.25, for a bargain 1p on Wednesday March 29.

Dino said: “We watched the show with family and friends and we had no idea who was going to win. Waiting to find out was more nerve-wracking than cooking for Tom Kerridge!”

Readers can obtain their 1p takeaway fish and chips by cutting out the voucher in this week’s The Scarborough News and redeeming it between 11.30am and 10pm on Wednesday March 29 2017.
