A SCARBOROUGH nursery nurse is set to raise hundreds of pounds for charity after being inspired by a special little boy.

Sarah Duckworth, who works at Wooden Horse nursery in Wykeham, is taking on the Great North Run in aid of “Debra” – a charity which helps those with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).

Two-year-old Jack Waller – one of the children she looks after – has EB, which is a rare genetic condition in which the skin and internal body linings blister at the slightest knock or rub, causing painful, open wounds.

Miss Duckworth, 25, of East Ayton, said: “With looking after Jack at nursery, the cause is close to my heart.

“I watched my brother do the London Marathon in April and I thought it was such a great achievement that it made me want to do something too.”

This will be Miss Duckworth’s first ever charity run and she is hoping to raise around £700. Go to www.justgiving.com/Sarah-Duckworth
