Charity’s £5,000 boost

SCARBOROUGH and Ryedale Carers Resource has received a £5,000 grant from the Nationwide Foundation to support its work.

The funding will be used to address the needs of older carers 50+ to increase the take up of welfare benefits, to help reduce financial hardships and improve health and wellbeing and provide information, advice and support on all issues related to their caring responsibilities.

Elizabeth McPherson, chief officer, said: “We are very grateful to the Nationwide Foundation for this donation. There are many older carers within our local area providing a significant amount of unpaid care and not accessing support and information to improve their quality of life.

“We aim to support this group of older carers to help reduce their financial hardship and increase their wellbeing.” Call (01723) 850155 to find out more about Carers Resource.
