SCARBOROUGH is set to be the venue of Kings after attracting the Braille British Chess Championship.
Blind and partially-sighted players from across the country will be descending on the town from Saturday for the event.
Featuring Scarborough’s Stan Lovell, the competition also includes top seed Chris Ross, former champion Bill Armstrong and John Gallagher.
The event will take place over one week at the Red Lea Hotel, in Prince of Wales Terrace, with players taking part in one game each day.
A supporting tournament will also be taking place with Duncan McGregor, a member of Scarborough Chess Club, taking part.
There will also be free lessons throughout the week from 10.30am until 4.30pm from Sunday August 14 until Friday August 19.
