Would you like the chance to “Be a Reindeer” and help lead this year’s Christmas lights switch-on parade in Scarborough?

The Scarborough News has teamed up with Scarborough Council’s investment manager Nick Taylor to offer two youngsters the chance to help light up the town.

The parade will take place on Sunday November 24 from 4pm and we are looking for a boy and a girl, aged from seven to 10 years old, to take part.

The winners, who can bring their parents, brothers and sisters, will walk at the front of the parade with Father Christmas and help switch on the lights using a magic wand. They will also be given reindeer antlers to wear.

To enter, please write short paragraph of no more than 100 words about what Christmas means to you.

Applications must be received no later than Tuesday November 19 at 5pm. Send your entries by post to Susan Stephenson, Reindeer Competition, 17-23 Aberdeen Walk, YO11 1BB or email susan.stephenson@jpress.co.uk with the subject matter “Reindeer Competition”.

All entries must include the child’s full name and age, plus a parent’s name and daytime telephone number (preferably mobile). Winners will be notified by the end of next week.

The event is open to all and people are encouraged to come along and join in the fun.
