Choir on home turf

GRAHAM Community Choir, which launched South Cliff Methodist Church’s summer concert programme on Monday, performs on its home turf next Wednesday, at 7pm.

Conductor and arranger Bill Scott, former head of music at Scarborough College, says: “Our programme will include medleys from South Pacific and Phantom of the Opera and a lovely version of James Taylor’s Lonesome Road. Almost all our items are new.

“We have one or two songs in which the audience can join in, plus several solos including trombonist John Barratt, who plays with Kirkbymoorside Brass Band”. He will play a piece arranged by Bill for trombone and choir, entitled Sometimes I Feel Like A Motherless Child.

If anyone would like to join the 50-strong choir, its new season starts on 21 September, at 7pm. Just turn up or ring Bill on (01723) 364153 for more details.
