YOUNGSTERS from St Augustine’s School choir have been raising spirits and cash in Scarborough’s town centre.
The pupils performed in Westborough on Saturday to raise money for a school trip to Spain at the end of June.
The junior and senior choirs – 102 pupils in total – will be travelling to Barcelona and the surrounding areas to do a number of performances.
Musical director Oliver Barron said: “It’s the first time the choir has performed in town. They were nervous at first but they did really well.
“A lot of people came over and said how much they enjoyed it and that they would come to our next concert.”
The youngsters took part in an Easter concert last night at Westborough Church, which will also help towards the choir trip. The school organised a similar visit to Italy a couple of years ago.
Mr Barron said: “It’s getting closer now and all the students are really looking forward to it.”
The school is also organising an auction of promises to help boost funds for the trip.
It will take place at Sigma bar, at the Cask, on May 7.
To donate a “promise” for the auction call Katie Price on (01723) 363280. Items so far include a holiday, show tickets and free haircuts.
