A SCARBOROUGH takeaway is hoping to batter the opposition with food fit for royalty after the business landed in new hands!
Chris Barrett has taken over at Falsgrave Fisheries, in Falsgrave Road, and is aiming to chip in and boost the area’s trade.
And the man behind the frier comes with royal recommendation after spending years serving the Queen.
Mr Barrett, 58, enjoyed 25 years as a master chef in the army before a two year spell working on the Royal Guard at Balmoral between 1986 and 1987.
Scarborough born and bred, he said he was relishing the chance to make the business a success.
He added: “I have always fancied a fish and chip shop but never been able to afford it.
“However, the opportunity came up here and I decided to take it.
“We are a family-run business and everything has gone well so far.”
And customers to the shop should be in for a treat after Mr Barrett revealed he had further credentials for his culinary work.
He received a complimentary bronze medal for his catering work for athletes and teams at the 1986 Edinburgh Commonwealth Games.
