Festive fun was had by all at the Scarborough town centre Christmas lights switch-on parade.

The event, which started at Boyes, drew a large crowd who followed Father Christmas along Newborough and Westborough.

Santa was joined by Scarborough News Reindeer Competition winners Harry Rowe, seven, and Emily Staveley, right.

Also invited to the parade were runners-up Lois Chapman, seven, Holly Winspear, nine, Ben Coyle, eight, and Mia Campbell, nine.

Organiser Nick Taylor said: “Everyone had a great time. Lots of people joined in with the parade and the atmosphere was lovely.”

The event also featured music and singing by Yorkshire Coast College students and the Stephen Joseph Theatre’s Funky Choir.

Shoppers also got the chance to watch demonstrations of circus skills and shop at the festive market stalls.
