FESTIVE singing and shopping were the order of the day during a special event at St Mary’s Church in Cloughton.

A Christmas market was held in the church and community hall, with carol singing, mulled wine and mince pies.

There was a variety of stalls, selling items such as fruit and vegetables, cheese, jewellery, wooden toys, home-made soaps, wreaths, greetings cards and bird boxes.

A Christmas hamper was raffled off and the lucky winner was Ros O’Toole.

Market organiser Michele Dent said: “We had a really good day. It was the first time we’ve done a Christmas market and there was a great atmosphere.

“It was a nice community gathering.”

The next market will be held in the community hall on Friday January 27, from 10.30am to 1pm.
