THE national church initiative Back to Church Weekend will see St Martin’s Church, Seamer, open its doors on Saturday, from 2 to 4pm, to encourage people to visit and see what has been happening there in recent times.
The vicar, the Rev Laura McWilliams says everyone - especially those living in Seamer, Irton and Crossgates - will be welcome to have tea or coffee and cake, look at the new facilities, have a chat, pray and find out what is going on at their parish church.
On Sunday too, visitors will be welcome. A traditional holy communion service will be held from 9.30am, followed at 11am by a modern worship service that has a band and children’s Sunday Club.
St Martin’s has facilities for babies and a play area, and has recently had a new kitchen and toilets installed.
“We hope that many of our villagers will take the opportunity of this special Come Back to Church Weekend and discover our wonderful community for themselves and a place where they can experience the love of God,” said the Rev McWilliams.
