Saxophonist Julia Wray plays standards and classics when she guests at Scarborough Jazz Club at the Cask on Wednesday August 22.
Scarborough-based Julia has played saxes across the North of England either as leader of her own quartet, with General Cluster or as a soloist and sidewoman with various bands.
For the past 18 months she has been working in the Middle East in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Julia was resident saxophonist at the Armani Hotel and played for United Arab Emirates royalty including the ruler of Dubai and the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.
Other venues she played include the Burj Khalifa - the tallest building in the world, and the only seven-star hotel in the world - the Burj Arab. Julia also appeared at the famous Atlantis Hotel on The Palm.
For this gig she will play a mixture of standards and jazz classics with the resident Mike Gordon Trio. Admission is £3 and the session starts at 8.45pm.
The following week the club hosts Players Night.
These are fun events that give a chance to hear local jazz talent, young or old. Anyone is welcome to perform.
