A GROUP of Scarborough friends are hoping to reach dizzying heights in the name of a good cause.

The five-strong team are planning to climb Ben Nevis next week to help send a team of youngsters from Burniston Methodist Church on a house-building mission to Mexico.

Ben Nevis, in Scotland, is the highest mountain in the British Isles and stands at 4,406ft.

Naomi Smith, 20, of Hovingham Drive, is supporting the mission as she is a regular at the church.

She said: “The group needs to raise £20,000 to go to Mexico and we wanted to help.

“I think what they’re doing is brilliant. It’ll be life changing for them and life changing for the family they help.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity and we want to encourage them as much as possible.”

The group of friends, all aged 20, will head off to Scotland this weekend and hope to tackle the climb next Wednesday.
