CHILDREN created colourful pirates in a bid to win some serious booty during a contest at a Scarborough bookshop.

The colouring competition was held at Waterstone’s in Westborough, who teamed up with the Sea Life Centre to offer free tickets.

The half-term event was to celebrate the opening of the new Pirate Golf attraction at the centre.

Bookseller John Bedder said: “We got over 30 entries from a wide variety of age groups, with the competition aimed mainly at five to eight year olds.

“They were of a really good standard - one four year old got an honourable mention as their entry was so good.

“The children coloured in the pirates in store and they really enjoyed it.”
