VOLUNTEERS in Barrowcliff linked up to give a big spring clean of one of its most valuable parks.
Jonno’s Field, which lies at the centre of the estate and offers spectacular views across the town and sea, was the target of a community litter pick and clean up.
The event was part of the My Barrowcliff initiative, which is putting in place a five-year action plan to improve the estate.
Tom Mutton, programme manager with Groundwork North Yorkshire, said “It’s wonderful that so many people offered to come and help with the spring clean. There was certainly plenty of rubbish and litter to clean up so the more people we got the easier it was for everyone.”
A number of different organisations and local people took part in the event. As well as members of Barrowcliff Residents Association, volunteers from Northstead, Barrowcliff and Scalby Schools, Wreyfield and St Mark’s churches, Yorkshire Coast Homes, Scarborough Council, and Groundwork North Yorkshire all mucked in to help out.
Groundwork North Yorkshire is an environmental charity that supports communities in need, working with partners to help improve the quality of people’s lives.
