A DECISION on a plan to convert former parish council offices into a home has been deferred by Scarborough Council’s Planning and Development Committee.
The council had received a planning application from developers hoping to convert the former parish council offices in Scalby Road.
It was due to be discussed at a meeting on Thursday but Jill Low, the council’s planning manager, asked for it to be deferred because officers had received new information relating to the plan.
Developers are hoping to convert the former offices in Scalby Road into a two-bedroom home – without changing its outer appearance.
Newby and Scalby Parish Council had objected to the plan because it did not fit in with local planning policies covering the re-use of vacant land within development limits.
The council’s head of environmental health and housing pointed out that nearby tennis courts and community hall were established uses and any prospective buyer would be able to assess the impact before proceeding.
