DETAILS have been announced for the traditional tractor run and duck race in the run-up to this year’s Burniston Show.
Both events, organised by the show committee, will be held on Sunday May 22.
The tractor run begins at Troutsdale at 10.30am, then heads to Hackness. From there it goes by the Everley Hotel, then through Malthorpe, Lady Edith’s Drive, over Redscar, back up Haybrow to Suffield, then right over Cumboots to Reasty top car park. From there it goes down the bank to Harward Dale and then back to Burniston Village Hall.
The duck race at the village hall will start at 2.15pm and will also feature a raffle and refreshments.
Secretary Amanda Ewart is appealing for volunteers to help out, adding: “Anyone willing to help, please turn up on the day.”
Burniston Show will take place on Bank Holiday Monday August 29 at Flatts Farm in Coastal Road on the A165.
Among this year’s attractions will be a horticultural and crafts marquee, a fur and feather tent, horse classes, livestock and vintage classes, and ferret classes.
Organisers declared the 115th show last year a huge success with between 6,000 and 7,000 people through the gates on the day.
People of all ages made their way around the show tents and gathered around the main enclosure to watch displays including showjumping, Shire horses and a parade of Staintondale Foxhounds.
