A SCARBOROUGH motorist has been hit with six points on his licence after pleading guilty to speeding.
Anthony Hickman, 57, of Osgodby Lane, pleaded guilty yesterday at Scarborough Magistrates’ Court to doing 88mph on the A64.
Hickman was driving a Ford Transit van when clocked by police officers in July near Malton.
The maximum for such a vehicle on a dual carriageway is 60mph.
Hickman, a sales rep, told the court that as an experienced driver he was “ashamed and disappointed” his concentration had lapsed, adding he had previously driven hundreds of thousands of miles across the country for work purposes without incurring any previous penalties.
After handing him the six point penalty, magistrates also imposed a £265 fine and ordered him to pay £45 costs.
