Appeal by police into assaults at town bars

SCARBOROUGH police are appealing for information following two separate assaults in St Nicholas Street.

The first occurred in the Barbican at 11.30pm on Wednesday, as a 37-year-old local man was standing at the bar.

The offender punched him in the face knocking the man to the ground. As a result of the assault the victim suffered a broken jaw and had to spend three days in hospital.

The suspect is described as white, of medium build and aged in his 20s.

The second took place in the Blue Lounge at midnight on Saturday December 10, when a 24-year-old local man was punched in the face.

The suspect is described as white, aged in his early to mid 30s, approximately 5ft 10in with a medium build and very short hair.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a blue v-neck jumper and blue denim jeans.

PC Gemma Tate, of Scarborough Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incidents or can identify either of the men responsible. I urge them to contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.”
