TROUBLE broke out after a police community support officer tried to take alcohol from a party of 60 youths in Scarborough’s North Bay.

After the officer told the teenagers to hand over their drinks, some members of the group hurled bottles towards the officer.

Police officers rushed to the scene, but by the time they got there those believed to have been responsible for throwing the bottles had run away.

Sergeant Kevin Dunn, of Scarborough Police, said that only a minority of the group had been involved in the bottle throwing.

The incident occurred at 8:40pm on Tuesday. No-one was injured and no arrests were made.
