BREAKING NEWS: Girl was assaulted by Jimmy Savile in Scarborough claim

Police are investigating claims Jimmy Savile sexually assaulted a young girl in Scarborough over 20 years ago.

The offence is alleged to have taken place in the town in the late 1980s.

The report was lodged with North Yorkshire Police yesterday.

A spokesman said: “This is the first report received by the force in connection with the Jimmy Savile inquiry.”

It has now been passed on to the Metropolitan Police, which is leading a major investigation into sex abuse allegations made against the late TV star.

It is understood the woman was not local to Scarborough.
