TWO women who are alleged to have been running a brothel in Scarborough will have their case sent to York Crown Court next week.

Yan Na Cai and Lin Li, both 49 and of Queen Street, Scarborough, are alleged to have been operating an illicit enterprise from 11a Gladstone Road.

They also face a charge of possessing criminal property after £1,200 in cash was allegedly found at the property by police.

At a hearing at Scarborough Magistrates’ Court yesterday it was decided that a hearing will take place on Monday next week to formally commit the case to York Crown Court.

Neither woman has yet entered any pleas in relation to the accusations.

Police charged the women, who are originally from China, following a raid on January 22 at the Gladstone Road property, which is situated between K and B Design and Aston Pharmacy.

Both women have been remanded in custody.
