A FILEY man who has been charged with committing multiple sex offences against children has appeared in court.

Richard Marshall, 52, of Ash Grove, faces six charges of gross indecency with a boy under 14.

Five of the charges relate to offences that are said to have occurred in Hunmanby between January 1977 and December 1978.

The other charge relates to an offence which is alleged to have been committed in Hunmanby between January 1978 and December 1979.

He also faces two charges of indecent assault on a girl under 16. The offences were allegedly committed between January 2002 and December 2004 in Scarborough.

In addition to the charges relating to sexual offences, Marshall is said to have impersonated a customs officer, committed harassment and sent a false message intended to cause annoyance, inconvenience or anxiety, between August 30 and September 10 last year.

He has not yet entered a plea to any of the 11 charges.

The case was sent to York Crown Court, where Marshall will appear on April 16. He was released on conditional bail.
