A VAN driver has been fined £300 for using his mobile phone while behind the wheel.
David Price, 48, of Dale Edge in Eastfield, faced one charge at Scarborough Magistrates Court of using a mobile phone while driving.
Martin Butterworth, prosecuting, told the court Price had been spotted by police speaking in to a phone while driving a transit van on Seamer Road at 4.30pm on June 9.
In a letter to the magistrates Price pleaded guilty, stating his hands free kit had broken and that he had to be in constant contact with his head office at work.
The court heard it was his second offence of driving while using a phone, having previously been convicted in 2009.
Magistrates ordered Price to pay a £300 fine, costs of £45 and £15 victim surcharge.
