A RILLINGTON man has been fined £135 and banned from driving for 20 months after driving while over the limit.
Christopher Allan, 56, admitted the offence during a hearing at Scarborough Magistrates’ Court.
He admitted drink-driving on July 1 at Town Street in Old Malton.
The court heard how Allan attended Pickering police station on the day in question to get an incident number for a theft matter he had reported.
A police officer noticed he smelt of alcohol and that he come to the station in a van. Allan left the station and after discussing the matter with colleagues, the police officer decided to do a trace on the vehicle.
It was found in Town Street and when Allan was breath tested, he was found to be more than twice over the legal limit - even though he insisted he had not drunk alcohol since the day before, having had just three cans of lager.
