BRITISH Transport Police are appealing for information following a fight on a station platform last week.
The incident, which took place last Tuesday, involved two men who boarded the 4.23pm Scarborough to Bridlington service.
PC Craig Virco, investigating officer, said: “While onboard, a verbal altercation took place between two men, which soon led to pushing and shoving. As the service arrived at Filey, both men left the train and a fight broke out. Members of the public intercepted and separated the two.
“During the incident, a window at the station was smashed. Both men sustained injuries, and one was treated at the scene for hand injuries.”
Since the incident, a 30-year-old man from Filey has been arrested and bailed until Tuesday September 6, pending further police enquiries.
Officers enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, including viewing CCTV at the station and speaking to witnesses, and would appeal to anyone who saw the incident to contact police.
PC Virco added: “This was a violent incident on a busy commuter train. We believe there were many people on board and at the station who may have witnessed this incident and I would appeal for them to come forward.”
