Four Scarborough teenagers have appeared in court charged with false imprisonment and intimidating a witness in a criminal case.
Adam Cook, 18, Lauren Hilton, 19, Ben Smedley, 18, and a male youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at York Crown Court on Friday in connection with an incident in Scarborough on April 6.
Hilton and Smedley, both of Victoria Road, admitted one count of making threats to intimidate the male victim in an attempt to obstruct the course of justice.
They also pleaded guilty to false imprisonment and robbing the named victim of his mobile phone, some tobacco and cash.
The cases of Cook, also of Victoria Road, and the under-age defendant, were adjourned for a plea hearing on August 26.
They were bailed until then on condition that they do not contact the main prosecution witness.
Hilton and Smedley will be sentenced upon the resolution of their co-defendants’ cases.
They were remanded in custody until then.
Another co-accused - a female who was named in court - has already admitted her part in the incident and is awaiting sentence.
