A VINTAGE car has been stolen in Scarborough.

The red 1971 Reliant Scimitar, which was in immaculate condition, was parked in Valley Road, directly under Valley Bridge, when it was taken.

PC Chris Poulter, of Scarborough Police, said: “The owner of the car, who was visiting Scarborough for the day from Pontefract, has spent a small fortune restoring the vehicle over the years.

“The car is very rare and I am appealing for the public to help us locate it and return it to its rightful owner.”

It is believed that the car was taken at some time between 1pm and 6pm on Sunday, July 31.
