A SCARBOROUGH woman who sustained serious injuries in an incident at her home is still in hospital – 40 days on.
A man arrested in connection with the incident was yesterday given a further period of police bail.
A police spokesperson said the woman remained in a serious condition in Scarborough Hospital, having made only a “slight improvement” since she was injured at a property in East Ayton.
The woman was taken to Scarborough Hospital before being transferred to Hull Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.
Police say she has since been transferred back to Scarborough.
The arrested man, who is in his 50s, answered bail yesterday. He was granted further conditional police bail until next month.
Police also renewed an appeal for information, as decectives continue their investigations. Following the incident at a detached home in the quiet cul-de-sac of Carr Lane, the gates to the property were taped off and a blue and white tent was put up over the doorstep.
The scene was put under police guard.
In the wake of the incident, neighbours who spoke to the Evening News expressed their shock.
One resident, who did not give her name, said: “It’s very sad and we hope she survives.”
It is understood that police were called to Carr Lane following a domestic incident on Sunday May 1.
Officers from Scarborough Police’s Protecting Vulnerable Persons Unit have been involved in the investigation.
