A BRICK was hurled at the window of a bus carrying dozens of Leeds United fans from Scarborough – by supporters of the same team.
The Scarborough Whites Leeds United Members Club bus, with 67 passengers, was approaching Elland Road on Tuesday night for their team’s heated League Cup tie with rivals Manchester United.
The brick, which was hurled from a bridge, shattered a pane of glass on front passenger side of the double-decker bus, next to the driver.
Supporters club committee member Phil Bell said that he believed whoever had thrown the brick had incorrectly thought the bus was carrying Manchester United fans.
“It shattered the front windscreen,” Mr Bell said. “Luckily it hit the window near a sign which we take with us. That took most of the force.
“There wasn’t a hole and no-one was hurt. I think they were only kids.
“The night didn’t get much better because we lost.”
The bus was driven back to Scarborough and the damage has been reported to police.
