Police are appealing for witnesses after a nine-year-old boy was punched in the face by an older man in Scarborough on Sunday

A nine-year old boy was punched in the face by an older man in broad daylight on Sunday.

The boy was having a row with another youngster in Manor Road Park at around 3.30pm when the man intervened and hit the victim.

As a result the boy suffered a nose bleed.

PC Andy Nicholson, of Scarborough Police, said: “Thankfully the boy’s injuries were not severe. However, the incident did leave the child upset and shaken.

“If you were in the Manor Road Park at the time, I ask you to come forward and contact the police so that I can establish the circumstances surrounding this assault.”
