A MAN who indecently exposed himself to a woman has been sentenced by Scarborough magistrates.

Mark Carney, 40, of Highfield Road, Malton, threw food at his victim’s door before he pulled down his shorts and made a lewd comment to the woman on October 3 in Malton.

He admitted a charge of indecent exposure and an additional charge of drunk and disorderly following an incident in Filey on January 14.

The court heard that Carney had been shouting abuse at Filey bus station which was heard by children.

When arrested, he swore at a police officer and called them a ‘pig’.

Shaun Greenan, mitigating, said his client, who had no previous convictions, had difficulties with alcohol abuse.

He added that Carney apologised unreservedly for his actions and that there was no sexual motive for the indecent exposure offence.

An all-options pre-sentence report was ordered. It is likely that Carney will be given a community order.
