Scarborough police are appealing for help to identify a man believed to be responsible for a sexual assault last year.
It occurred in September 2011, when the victim, a woman in her 70s, was stood on Spa Bridge watching the arrival of the Queen Mary 2. A man engaged her in a short conversation before briefly touching her in an inappropriate manner. The woman challenged him and he left the area.
A man matching the description of the offender was seen in the Crescent Park between 2pm and 3pm on both August 13 and 15. The suspect is described as around 5ft 3in tall with a medium to stocky build and short blond hair.
PC Georgina Hanson, of Scarborough Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “I would like to speak with anyone who was in the Crescent Park at the time and may have seen the man. I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have been approached by him and spoke with him.”
Anyone who can help is asked to dial 101, press option 2 and ask for Georgina Hanson. Alternatively, information can be passed by email to email@example.com. Or call Crimestoppers anonymously.
